The people of science are even more anachronistic than people of religion.

The following speech is Against the Motion proposed.

Hello!A very great evening to everyone present here! I am Dakshi and am here to speak against "Science being more anachronistic than religion".So, what does anachronism mean? In simple words, it is being outdated or old-fashioned or Orthodox. But, how can science be outdated? Science actually explains  from the creation of universe through the big bang theory then the five ice ages than the human evolution- Australopithecus to H. sapiens-all these proved on the basis of evidence and even universally accepted. 

While when we tall about religion, different religions have different beliefs. Like some belive Earth was created in 7 days or created by some devine energy in just a second. No mention of any evolution or anything.. Just Adam and Eve. 

Thus, " Science is from the start and will be there till the end.. Never outdated".

Also, science belives in an eternal energy but just doesn't finds it to be un-understandable! 

Now, let's talk about today's situation-

In India, we still believe in religion a lot but many Americans (64%) have stopped believing in science. Why? Why is religion being outdated? Because, they find no reason for the tasks they are asked to perform or following a particular rule. Like in certain superstitions-a poem "Night of Scorpion", black cat crossing our way and we should not continue on our way. 

Here, I would like add a quote by Tim Minchin-

" Science adjusts it's views based on what's observed. Faith is the denial of observation so that belief can be preserved. "

So now, I would like to speak on how science adjusts it's views that is, it is continously evolving, updating like all the discoveries from telephone to mobile to internet, Scanning and tunnelling electron microbes, space ships, space shuttle, rocket, etc. 

Now, let's talk about spirituality which is often just connected to religion? I ask why? Can we find inner peace only if we do some prayers regularly or following a particular life style that we are asked to? Isn't such practices restricting us? I believe we can find our inner peace through understanding the universe around us and question everything in world, know the laws of nature- all these will connect us to the Eternal Energy and also gives us freedom we never had in religion! 

So, at the end, I don't deny that religion is based on concepts but these concepts are not known to us. So, even if a five-year old would ask why do that or why don't do that, we just answer, we are doing it since these many years, so you also repeat! So, these are some of the reason why religious people are being anachronistic!
