Are Public-private Partnerships beneficial in a world as corrupt as now?
Any discussion on corruption revolves around the public sector and employees.
The answer to how public-private partnerships can reduce corruption lies in what drives the respective sector.
Public sector is driven by public welfare whereas, Private sector is incentive driven.
There is, no doubt, that profit is a better motivation than public welfare to work for any employee.
The salary of Private sector company managers depends on the performance of the company whereas a public sector employee gets fixed salary making employees less efficient.
Private companies have more competent and qualified people for doing a job as compared to public.
Also, private sector can lay off underperforming employees whereas public sector refrains from laying them offs to keep the voters happy at the cost of increasing losses for the company.
Private companies face pressure from stake holders and board members to perform well, which is not found in public sector.
