Are Public-private Partnerships beneficial in a world as corrupt as now?
One can paint a picture of a public-private partnership as a contractor arrangement amongst a local government, a national government, or maybe public authority and the private supplier firm. And significantly, this contract implies that the private part holds the reins for maybe building or upgrading the piece of infrastructure, financing or making arrangements for this financing, and then manages this facility allowing no public involvement.
Placing an emphasis on this partnership being a multi-dimensional aspect. I strongly feel that in a world on the brink of illegitimate and fraudulent monetary transactions, Public-Private Partnerships shall ultimately push us off as a key player in any government owned facility provision. To have firm foothold over what government deems to be the citizen’s, I firmly believe that the private and public parties joining hand shall cast a dark shadow over what’s ours to start with.
Private operators' bond with the public sector shall prove as an insulation against the thread of trust the clients hold on to, of the public service for cutting too many corners, providing services below the standard threshold, or even violating and not keeping a stern check on peoples' constitutional, civil and human rights. At the same time, the private partner may enjoy a veto power when levying fees, tolls, and rates for the consumers held captive who may be chained to act by law or geographic natural monopoly to pay for their services.
Hence through my humble opinion, I aim on igniting this spark against the public – private partnerships running freely upon the play grounds of a corrupted world.
