All for the Game Series
- Nora Sakavic
The book is a sports thriller with a pinch of LGBTQ+ and a bunch of traumatized kids. This book has a little bit of everything for all YA fiction lovers.
The sports theme didn't sound too appealing to me in the beginning but soon the Exy became my new Quidditch. It, being a co-ed sport, made it more interesting.
Despite the writing style being a bit off and amateur, all the characters are quite well-written. It leaves you with no choice but to want to know more about them even after the novels end.
The novel revolves around Neil Josten and his teammates, who are all just teenagers with broken childhoods. So the team has its fair share of problems with teamwork and hence winning matches. But that all obviously changes as the story goes on.
My personal favourite character was Andrew because who doesn't love a sassy, psychologically damaged, emotionally unhinged character with some anger issues in the fictional world. (Yeah, I see the red flags.) Neil, being the close runner-up, is definitely one of the most observant characters I've read. He, having been on the run for most of his life, is too wary of the people around him, including his teammates, and this makes the further plots so much more special.
Although you might feel like throwing the first book out the window a few times, I'd recommend you stick through this one because the next two books are amazing.
