Long ago, when I was doomed by facts of science and my imagination was on the verge of collapseing, I found a character named Jhon Baptist , written by some drunk German author named Patrick Suskund.

His imagination smelled foul to me and his character smelled nothing like a human! A character with supernatural olfactory senses yet having no smell sounds like a canvas to me. I can imagine that character as a blank canvas in an art gallery, initially felt strange but at the end it turned out exactly someone from my imagination, a guy brought up in tough conditions or who survived in a dark part of history and came out as a greedy man, sounds so humanly to me.

Those drunk word were just glorifying that character but it felt okay because story ends with so many dead people, who just had some extra ordinary human smell and yeah, some peaches also.

I expect that writer to be drunk or to be crazy else it would have been just a wasted thought.
